Phase 1

• Disseminate an easy-to-understand summary about microplastic contamination in local lakes via community environmental groups, fishing associations, and eco tourism networks.

• Use infographics and short social media posts to highlight the presence of plastic particles in both water and sediment, and call for citizen water sampling and monitoring efforts.

Phase 2

• Develop simple citizen science protocols (e.g., DIY water sampling kits) and a guide for local stakeholders on reducing plastic input into lakes.

• Collaborate with NGOs, schools, and local panchayats to encourage microplastic prevention actions and adopt a “plastic watch” pledge to document and reduce local pollution sources.
