• To raise awareness among coastal managers, local municipalities, marine conservation NGOs, and tourism operators about the varying ecological states of Mediterranean shallow rocky reefs.
• Present the reef-EBQI results showing many reefs in only “moderate” or “good” condition — and some in “poor” or “bad” status — to highlight vulnerability.
• Encourage stakeholders to recognize reef quality as an important shared asset, not just a scientific metric, and to start informal dialogue on reef health.
• Invite coastal municipalities, protected-area authorities, and local NGOs to publicly adopt a voluntary “Reef-Monitoring & Awareness Charter,” pledging to display regular reef-EBQI (or similar) data for local reefs.
• Encourage them to issue small-scale informational commitments: publish simple reef-health reports online, mark sensitive reef zones with signage for divers/tourists, and share yearly mini-updates to build community awareness and support conservation through transparency.
